Here’s a not so fun fact for you - did you know that almost all synthetic activewear is made from plastic?
Boom. We just make ours with materials that would otherwise clog landfills and pollute the ocean.
Our Core Collection fabric is crafted from 100% recycled fiber made using Repreve recycled nylon, produced from post-consumer waste, such as carpets, and plastic bottles. It is composed of 77% recycled nylon and 23% elastane, performs exactly the same as virgin nylon but gives you a sustainable edge, turning trash into treasure.
For every kilogram of Repreve material produced, we’re able to conserve 62% of energy, save 99% of water, avoid 35% of waste and a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions as compared to the production of virgin nylon. Best of all, the need for crude oil, refinery, and chemical extraction is not required.
The fabrication begins at the recycling facility, where plastic bottles are sorted, washed, and chopped into flakes. The clean flakes are blended, melted and turned into Repreve recycled chips and loaded into silos.
Here, 1 silo holds the equivalent of 27 million plastic bottles!
The chips then enter a state of the art extrusion and texturing process and get transformed into fibers with inherent performance properties. From wicking, thermal regulation, to odor control and cushioning, Repreve is the only Fiber with U Trust, which certifies recycled contents claims through traceable, FiberPrint™ technology.
